William & Mary men’s tennis is competing in the ITA Atlantic Region Championships in Blacksburg from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Monday, Oct. 12, William & Mary Athletics announced. Virginia Tech is hosting the five-day tournament at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center and Washington Street Courts, according to the announcement.
Matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. each day, and live streaming is available for matches at Burrows-Burleson, the athletics department said. Thursday’s program opened with two rounds of qualifying singles, while Friday’s schedule includes one round of main-draw singles and one round of doubles, according to the tournament schedule published by William & Mary Athletics.
The Tribe has seven players in the 64-player qualifying singles draw, with 16 spots available in the main draw, the announcement said. One William & Mary player had already secured a place in the main singles draw, which begins Friday. The team also entered four doubles pairs in the main draw, scheduled to start Friday, according to the department.
The published schedule lists two rounds of singles and one round of doubles Saturday, one singles round and two doubles rounds Sunday, and one round of each on Monday, with an additional round possible if needed because of a double-qualifier.
