Liberty University Athletics says its men’s tennis team is competing in the ITA Atlantic Regional at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, beginning Thursday, Oct. 8. The announcement lists the event at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center and gives its dates as Oct. 8-12.

Liberty says it is sending its full roster: Rodrigo Santiago Arraez, Siwanat Auytayakul, David Ekpenyong, Owen Guistwite, Nate Pitts, Chase Robinson, Benjamin Sparks, Angel Veliz and Guy Vorwerk. The tournament includes 19 teams from the ITA Atlantic Region, among them Virginia Tech, Virginia and Old Dominion, according to the announcement.

According to Liberty, qualifying is scheduled for Oct. 9, followed by the main draw Oct. 10-13. Players will compete in singles and doubles, and each player is guaranteed at least two singles matches, the university said. Singles qualifiers need two wins to reach the main draw, and the singles and doubles finalists qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships later this fall, Liberty said.

Liberty reports that the Flames have a 16-9 singles record and a 6-4 doubles record across two fall events. Benjamin Sparks leads the team with a 4-1 singles record, according to the announcement.
